Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. But for a young Irish girl with talented parents and extended family these traits came as a natural. Maureen entered this loving haven within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons, the mother of her. She was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin company, and also had shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons first FitzSimons kid. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and was a gruelling athlete in games as a child. The combination of this passion and her gift in performing was astonishing. Her winning of almost all the Feis prizes for her own nation's theatre and drama was a testament to this. At the age of 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her dream in classical theater and singing opera.
